What are the benefits of a bike repair shop?

In Québec, bike repair shops aren’t always easy to reach. Here’s what a shop like ours, in the Old Port, can do for you all year.

Sharing know-how

Many cyclists would like to know how to repair their bike so they can use it more often. But in some cases, they don’t have the right tools. At the shop, we do the work for them at a fair price and explain what was done.

When you bring in your bike, we explain its condition and the work needed. We take the time to prepare a detailed repair estimate. It’s sent to you by email for approval, so you can follow your bike’s progress at any time. Once we receive your approval, including any changes you ask for, our mechanics do the work and let you know when your bike is ready. An express service offers a same-day tune-up, depending on availability. Drop off your bike in the morning and pick it up at the end of your workday, which makes getting around much easier. In some cases, a loaner bike will tide you over while waiting for a missing part.

Bike mechanics training

If you’d like to maintain your own bike or bikes, our bike mechanics courses recognized by Vélo Québec will get you started. Fixing a flat, adjusting brakes and gears and keeping your bike in good shape will save you a trip to the shop and a wait that can sometimes be quite long! Gain some independence by learning the basics of your bicycle. To make it stick, practise on more than one bike, your kids’ for example. With this training, if a mechanical problem comes up during a ride, you’ll know how to get going again.

A place to get started in cycling

Cyclo Services doesn’t just repair bikes: we rent them too. We offer a wide selection of rental bikes, city, road, tandem, kids’ and electric, for every size and age. Carefully fitted and maintained by our team, this range of bikes lets you find the right type for your height. A good way to get started, or get your kids started, without buying right away.

A community spirit

Besides technical service, the repair shop is also an important hub for the community that grows around it. It’s a great place to chat with other cyclists looking for affordable and practical transportation. Technical tips, ride suggestions and practical advice are shared for free!

Cycling also often leads you to explore your neighbourhood at your own pace and see your area’s streets and bike paths from a new angle. It’s a very effective way to connect with your community and make new discoveries.
